Dry Ice Blasting is used extensively for mold cleaning applications with great success. Dry Ice Blasting is far superior to traditional cleaning methods as it is a dry process that creates no secondary wastes. It reduces or eliminates the need for toxic solvents, and the cleanup and disposal of blasting media, such as; sand, grit, water etc., that are hard to clean up and expensive to dispose of. Because dry ice (CO2) sublimates on contact with the object being cleaned there is less cleanup required; this means less downtime. Dry ice reduces or eliminates hands scrubbing, which in turn reduces waste and exposure of solvents to workers. Dry ice cleaning is non abrasive and will not damage the mold. Dry ice contains no moisture and will not create rust on the mold, cleaning with dry ice will also extend the working period of the mold. Dry ice cleaning is used to remove the build up of releasing agents from injection molds, extruder screws and general maintenance cleaning. It is suitable for in place hot mold cleaning.
